Amber is a fossilized resin 25 million
years old. The mines are found along the Septentrional Cordillera
(region between Santiago and Puerto Plata) and the Eastern Cordillera
(Bayaguana and El Valle) in the Dominican Republic.
Wonderful fossils of insects and flora can be found
in amber, in a wide variety of beautiful colors, ranging from the most
transparent yellow to a bright red, brilliant green and the deepest blue.
